Chirpy-Chirpy-Cheep, Twitter-Twitter-Tweet

Lushfantweets tweeted this short vid earlier today. Of course if you phone Miki regularly you've no doubt already heard this:

Then there's Phil and his wry witty twitterings after the big announcement on L-R Day*:

Philip King ‏@londonphilking Sep 28
"Music in 2015 must be in a ridiculously poor state if bands as piss-poor as Ride, Swervedriver, & Lush are being welcomed back.."

Philip King ‏@londonphilking Sep 28
"So, I've never been away..but Lush have: http://www.lushofficial.com"

The Roundhouse Shows Poster

The new poster for The Roundhouse shows with the added date. I think the redesign of the original Lush logo gives it just the right retro feeling for the new reformation.

Chorus: New Expansive LUSH Anthology Announced

From 4AD record label:

With almost twenty years having now passed, Lush are a band long overdue celebration. Coinciding with the news that the remaining members are to reunite next year, the complete Lush anthology fans have long been asking for is finally here. Spread over five CDs and housed in a beautiful hardbound book (designed by long-time associate Chris Bigg), Chorus consists of all three studio albums, both singles compilations and a wealth of previously unreleased demos, radio sessions, remixes and rarities. The limited edition box set will be released at the beginning of December, dependent on territory, and preceded by the worldwide vinyl reissue of Lush’s ‘Best Of’ compilation Ciao! in November. Lush have today announced details of their first live show in almost twenty years, playing London’s Roundhouse on 6th May 2016, with further worldwide dates to be announced shortly. Tickets are available here from 9am on Wednesday (30th).

Formed in London in 1988 and centered around childhood friends Emma Anderson and Miki Berenyi, Lush expertly fused melody and guitars; a sound that was christened ‘shoegaze’ well after they released their first records and a scene they outgrew with the sharpening of their pop sound with each release. Over the course of a decade, the band released three studio albums – Spooky (1992), Split(1994) and Lovelife (1996) – to growing critical and commercial success. In addition, they also put out a mini-album Scar (1989) and a string of EPs that were used to create two compilations, Gala (1990) and Topolino (1996), two albums that would ultimately bookend their story. After the sad death of founding member Chris Acland in late-1996, the band were left too grief stricken to continue, calling time shortly after.

They're Back! LUSH Announces Reformation

Quite possibly the best shoegaze band of all time, nay, dare I say in the history of the entire universe, is getting back together. The span of time has not squelched the tones of their etherial superblast and the legendary intrigue of this band. And today I’m proud to present them back to you and the nations, the one, the only… LUSH!

(via Lush reunite for first gig in almost 20 years | NME.COM)

Shoegaze band Lush have confirmed their first live show in almost 20 years.
The band, who split in 1998, will reunite for a gig at London’s Roundhouse on May 6, 2016. Tickets go on sale Wednesday (September 30) at 9am.
Lush formed in London in 1987, releasing their acclaimed debut ‘Spooky’ in 1992. Their last live show took place in Tokyo during September 1996.

Members Emma Anderson, Miki Berenyi and Phil King will reunite, with Elastica’s Justin Welch playing drums in the place of Chris Acland, who died in 1996.

“The opportunities and practicalities of reforming Lush meant that for 20 years it was an impossible undertaking,” Berenyi said of the news, adding, “but we all loved what we did, and the time is finally right for us to do it again.”

Lush have confirmed that a world tour will be “announced shortly”.

The band’s label 4AD are also reissuing their 'best of’ compilation 'Ciao!’ on vinyl in November, followed by a five-disc box set titled 'Chorus’ in December.

‘Split’ 20th Anniversary Interview

My interview with Lush | ‘Split’ 20th Anniversary

"Anyone that knew me in high school, or at least spent any time with me driving around in my old Toyota Corolla, will surely remember the English band Lush. In the very least, they may have some remaining hearing damage to help remember thanks to me blasting their 1994 album ‘Split’ – which also seemed to be on constant repeat – as loud as it could go. This album was epic to me, and it still is. Every little element of it, from the songs, to the artwork, to the tour dates I attended in Boston and Rhode Island that accompanied the album’s release, the band’s style, lead singer/guitarist Miki’s always flame-red hair and even her half-Hungarian/half-Japanese background, it was perfection. Lush was like a beautiful art project with all the pieces and elements fitting together just right. I had found my band and they spoke to me right down to the rarest of B-sides."
  - ghostlifeghostlife.

A mighty fine piece. Eloquently penned (or typed rather) by a true fan. This recent interview was conducted with all three surviving members - Emma, Phil and Miki. Now that's something I don't think I've seen happen often since the old band days...
